Western Avenue Reconstruction

IIW transformed a once rural stretch of roadway in Maquoketa, Iowa, into an urban street where community members can connect and be active. A new 4-foot sidewalk provides a safe connection from the Platt Street trail to the high school.

While the sidewalk may be the most eye-catching change, many of the upgrades to Western Avenue happened behind the scenes with the construction of a new water main from Summit Street to Wesley Drive to connect it to Westgate Drive.

The IIW engineering team provided the design survey, temporary and permanent easements and all engineering services required to complete plans and specifications for an Iowa Department of Transportation project.
