This federally funded project led by the IIW team transformed a rural roadway with ditch drainage into an ADA-accessible, urban section with a storm sewer system. Managed through the Iowa Department of Transportation, the project called for a mill and resurface pavement rehabilitation for two blocks and pavement reconstruction for one block.
IIW’s team conducted subsurface exploration and testing for use to evaluate pavement rehabilitation options and recommendations. The subsurface investigation also proved areas where Excavation Below Subgrade (BES) and subgrade stabilization stone were needed. The sidewalk reconstruction also provided ADA access for the first time.
During construction, IIW’s teams managed the project and provided testing and inspection, certified erosion control inspections and preparation of all pay requests and work orders.
