Chestnut Street Rountree Branch Bridge

Providing a more direct route to University of Wisconsin – Platteville led to the street reconstruction and replacement of the Chestnut Street Rountree Branch Bridge in Platteville, Wisconsin.

The IIW Construction Services team worked in cooperation with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Grant County, University of Wisconsin – Platteville, and the City of Platteville.

The IIW team designed arches into the two-span bridge that also features a bike lane, multiuse trail and sidewalk. The quality of the newly designed structure earned the project the WisDOT Excellence in Highway Design Award.

The project did not come without its challenges. The realignment of the half-mile of roadway also required Section 106, Phase I Hazardous Materials Assessment, and Environmental Report. IIW coordinated the work with multiple of consultants.

This ARRA funded project also needed to be complete in nine months while including public involvement to meet the funding requirements.

Serving as the Construction Leader, the IIW also provided a range of engineering services, onsite construction observation, quality control testing and inspections and construction administration through the DOT Field Manager software.
