Dubuque, IA—Anthony Maginity, E.I., civil design engineer at IIW, P.C., recently completed the training requirements to become an Iowa Certified SWPPP Designer through the Iowa Stormwater Education Partnership.

The certification program covers all facets of SWPPP (Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans) design, including NPDES rules and regulations; soil erosion and sedimentation process; the three phases of SWPPP design; SWPPP shortfalls and how to avoid them; and hands-on class exercises that model the placement of controls and the SWPPP narrative. After passing the certification exam, Anthony is now considered a certified designer who prepares (designs), reviews, and approves SWPPPs.

Anthony is experienced in civil site design and land development including site layouts; grading and design of utilities associated with residential subdivisions, commercial, and industrial developments; and site improvements.

Anthony has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology, along with a certification in Structural Design from Rochester Institute of Technology. He is also currently pursuing his Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Construction Engineering and Management from Iowa State University.
