Dubuque, IA—Jeri Vondera, PE, transportation engineer at IIW, has been granted a license as a Professional Engineer, by the State of Iowa.
After college, Jeri went to work for the Virginia Department of Transportation in the Traffic Engineering Department. She took a 15-year hiatus from the field, re-starting her career with IIW five years ago. Two years ago, Jeri took and passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Examination in preparation to eventually becoming a licensed engineer. Jeri recently passed the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) Examination to receive her PE license. Prior to taking the exam, she didn’t think it would be possible to recall what she had learned in college to attain her PE license. “I’ve realized it’s never too late to pursue your dreams,” said Vondera.
In her 10 years of transportation engineering experience, Jeri has gained valuable experience in traffic signal design, traffic control plans, construction staging, and traffic impact studies. She also is knowledgeable in DOT federal-aid procedures for local public agencies, environmental documents, and permit applications.
Jeri has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Missouri University of Science & Technology.
